“The Artist’s Way” diary: week 2

Artist’s date

I went to an exhibition of works by Benjamin Shine, at the Grainger Gallery in Fyshwick. The artist arranges sheer fabrics to create three-dimensional portraits and other images – it’s an impressive and unexpected use of a medium.

Reflections

The theme of Week 2 is “Recovering a Sense of Identity”.

One of the tasks for this week was make a list of ten changes we’d like to make, then choose one item from the list and do it.

I think this activity may be particularly useful for people who would like to be more creative but feel stuck in routine. Sometimes people can have big dreams for future projects but run into difficulties when trying to get started. Making even a small change – or doing a new thing – helps bring creativity into the present.
