About the “Notes and Reflections” category

In this category, I’m posting notes and thoughts on books I’ve read, podcasts I’ve listened to and courses I’ve watched.

I expect I’ll be mostly covering non-fiction works. Likely topics include science, psychology, history and philosophy.

Usually, my notes won’t be comprehensive – they’ll just be a list of the points that seemed particularly interesting to me at the time of writing.

In the “Reflections” section of each post, I’ll consider the aspects that seemed most interesting, useful or thought-provoking. I’m planning to avoid making posts that are largely critical – instead, I’m planning to use the works as starting points for further thinking. (This follows one of the suggested principals of “digital gardening” – see The concept of digital gardening, and why it appeals to me post for more information.)

After I’ve looked at a number of works on a particular topic, I may post an overview and further thoughts in the Essays and Explorations category.
